Course Description

Students will learn about technologies in the world around us, explore different jobs and careers. Through experience and lecture students will  learn many of  the skills and techniques of woodworking as well as project planning and drafting, as well as woodworking skills and techniques.  Craftmanship, planning and integrity are stressed during this course.  Middle school Technology courses work in an interdisciplinary capacity with other academic courses the students are engaged in.

A Brief overview of Technology Education here at Brunswick

Technology and its effects upon our society are core topics which are looked at closely during  the forty weeks of Technology each student here at Brunswick takes prior to entering the ninth grade.

Each Technology course builds upon prior course experience which together builds a complete understanding of not only Technology but how it effects every one of as well as the world in which we live.

Students are made aware of how Technology has changed the world which surrounds us and continues to exponentially with each passing year.  A greater awareness of this new technology prepares the student not only for the following High School years but also for the 21st century,colleges regard this as a requirement for postsecondary success and corporate America considers it a mandatory part of preparation for the workplace.

Projects are chosen which stimulate student interest and relate to their daily lives.

Projects provide opportunities for students to express in a variety of ways what they know about science and math.

The students have opportunities to work both independently and collaboratively with other students.

Ideas are communicated both orally and in written form to further develop their concepts of Science and Technology.

I am available to assist students periods 1,2,5,6 and after school on most days- usually Monday and Wednesday  schedule with teacher as needed
