Curriculum & Assessment

The Board of Education recognizes the importance of providing quality instructional programs designed to properly prepare our students for the world that they will face upon graduation.

Our instructional programs need to be reviewed and revised regularly to ensure that our K-12 instructional expectations are current with the needs and demands of our ever changing world. Each program will document units, content, skills and assessments for each course offered in order to assist in determining instructional expectations.

The instructional program review process for social studies, music and technology was implemented during the 2008-2009 school year. The purpose is to provide a defined process for reviewing, updating and documenting all levels of instructional expectations for each of the district's thirteen instructional programs. The process will take approximately 4 - 6 years for each instructional program to complete. English, foreign language and physical education will start the review 2009-2010. In 2010- 2011, mathcomputer skills / business and art will initiate the review. Lastly, science, health, and family and consumer science will embark on the review in 2011-2012.

The Profile of a Graduate was developed by the District Curriculum and Assessment Council with input from students, faculty, staff and parents. The profile includes the ideal characteristics, knowledge, and skills necessary for our students to thrive in an ever-changing world. The profile will provide the framework for the development of grade-level and content–specific skills and expectations during the instructional program review process. The Profile of a Social Studies and Music Graduate was created by their respective instructional program review teams.
