Your child should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication in their body in order to return to school. If you have any questions call the Health Office at 279-4600, ext. 2012 from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
If your child needs Tylenol in the morning in order to come to school he/she needs to stay home for 24 hours.
If your child has vomited since dinner, he/she needs to stay home another 24 hours. This is in order to keep the children around them healthy and not to spread germs. Please remember to phone the health office to call your child in sick.

Our school nurses would like to remind everyone we are entering cold and flu season. Below are everyday precautions to minimize the risks. A Parent Guide from the Centers for Disease Control is also available here…
In accordance with New York State Law, physical examinations are required for all students in grades kindergarten, two, four, seven, ten and all students new to the district. Students may elect to have the examination in school by the school physician. Forms are available in the Health Office.
According to NY State Law, in order to administer medication, school nurses must have a written request from a doctor giving the frequency and dosage of medications, the condition for which it is prescribed, and a completed authorization form from the parent/guardian. Forms are available in the health office.
Medication (prescription or nonprescription) must be given by a parent directly to the school nurse. Students may NOT carry medicine in school at any time. All medication (prescription or non-prescription) is to be brought to the school nurse by an adult. Children are not allowed by state regulations to carry medication in the school setting unless the proper paperwork is completed (signed by a physician) and the nurse is aware.
Emergency information cards on file in the school nurse's office have parents' home and work telephone numbers, doctors' names and numbers and persons to be contacted in emergencies if parents cannot be reached. These are also required in order for a child to leave the building on a field trip.
It is vitally important that you keep the nurse's office apprised of any changes in address, telephone numbers, places of employment, and persons to be contacted in case of emergency. In medical emergencies, schools may only give first aid and must be able to contact someone who can make vital decisions about medical care. Sending a child to the hospital REQUIRES parental consent.
Emergency cards are also helpful when students must be dismissed form school unexpectedly. If the child cannot be released to one parent because of custody arrangements, please notify the nurse.
Students arriving at 8:55 a.m. or later must be accompanied into school and signed in by an adult.
Whenever a student is absent, parents are requested to call the Health Office (279-4600, ext. 2012) prior to 9 a.m. After that time, a call will be made to the home of any child who is absent and has not yet called in. New York State Law mandates that a note signed by the parent or guardian be sent to the school explaining the nature of each absence IN ADDITION to calling the Health Office on the date of the absence.
Parents are encouraged to schedule student visits to doctors/dentists after school hours. In the event that this is unavoidable, students are expected to bring a note from the doctor/dentist upon returning to school.
