STANDARDS AND PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Arts Standard 1:
Creating, performing, and participating in the arts
Students will actively engage
in the process that constitutes creation and performance in the arts
(dance, music, theatre, and visual arts) and participate in various
roles of the arts.
Project Objectives:
- Engage in the process of self-expression
through art.
- Recognize originality through personal
expression.
- Recognize other artists’ roles in art.
Arts Standard 2:
Knowing and Using Arts Materials and Resources
Students will be
knowledgeable about and make use of the materials and resources
available for participation in the arts in various roles.
Project Objectives:
- Develop
art skills and concepts through the use of a variety of mediums.
- Apply
knowledge of various resource materials in the development of an artwork.
Arts Standard 3:
Responding to and Analyzing Works of Art
Students will respond
critically to a variety of works in the arts, connecting individual work
to other works and to other aspects of human endeavor and thought.
Project Objectives:
- Promote aesthetic awareness.
- Demonstrate the ability to see the world in
a literal and figurative sense.
- Use critiques as a means to improve art
production.
- Use art criticism as a method of judging
both successful and unsuccessful parts of an artwork and incorporate
objective criteria for description, analysis, interpretation, and
judgment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of art and its
connections with other disciplines.
Arts Standard 4: Understanding the
Cultural Contributions of the Arts
Students will develop an
understanding of the personal and cultural forces that shape artistic
communication and how the arts in turn shape the diverse cultures of
past and present society.
Project Objectives:
- Recognize
famous works of art and/or art styles of both contemporary art and
art of past cultures.
- Understand
what component art plays in all cultures.
- Perceive
one’s own creative abilities and heritage within a universal
context.
- Form
sound artistic viewpoints and learn to appreciate viewpoints of
others along with those of diverse cultures.
