World Languages Department Tamarac High School Bonjour! I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and let you know what you and your child can expect from his/her French class this year. My name is Jocelyn Hoffmann and this is my twelfth year as a French teacher at Tamarac. Many of you know me already, as I used to teach 7th and 8th grade French. The study of World Languages is critical because it not only prepares your child for communication in various languages, but it also allows him/her to gain a better understanding of his/her own, native language and culture. High school French can be very exciting because we are able to delve further into the Francophone world. French 4 students will be able to analyze French literature, language, and culture, while potentially gaining university credit. Students in French 2 and 3 will strengthen their vocabulary and knowledge of the French-speaking world. I am offering students extra help after school on Thursdays, and by appointment. I am also available for extra help 1st and 3rd periods everyday. Please advise your child to take advantage of this extra help if his/her grades start sliding or he/she is having problems with any concepts we cover in class.
