Art teacher Barbara Fallon and her team of talented fifth grade art students worked on a year long project to create a mural to grace the halls of our elementary school. They met for many weeks after their school day had ended to brainstorm ideas for the mural.

The students decided they wanted to show the difference between a "World of Peace" and a "World of Strife". They chose images that reflected one another in a pool of water so the viewer can see the difference between the two worlds. Their color choices and style of painting also accentuated the differences humanity feels when they are experiencing 'peace' versus when they are experiencing 'strife'. 

The students researched the many words people around the world use to describe peace and incorporated them into their mural. Working cooperatively on this year-long project they sketched out their ideas, decided which images to use and then transferred them to large panels. The finished artwork is eight feet by eight feet and will fill a large wall in the main hallway of the school.
